Workshop “Genomics for a blue economy” at Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to introduce the upcoming workshop “Genomic for a blue Economy” - Cutting-Edge Technologies in Marine Natural Products Discovery that will be held at the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, Napoli, Italy, on December 11 and 12, 2019.

The workshop aims to identify the state-of-the-art of methods, potential challenges, and future directions in the characterization of marine natural compounds and their applications as biotechnological and pharmaceutical products using innovative and eco-sustainable approaches.

Topics that  will be addressed include bioinformatic and genomic tools available for genome mining for identification of marine secondary metabolite genes and clusters; marine secondary metabolites characterization through coupling integrative genomics with other methods like RNA-Seq, metabolomic and proteomic; novel approaches to unlock the expression of silent marine secondary metabolites, including co-culturing techniques; cutting-edge technologies in genome editing and novel metabolites identification; Development and application of heterologous systems for the expression of biosynthetic genes and clusters.
